Took this on my flight from Antigua to Montego Bay on January 18. A relaxing end to the horror I experienced the day before. Posted by Hello

Good Man Vs Good Woman

Jan. 15, 2005

There was an article one of our local newspapers today ... 2 actually, an editorial making reverence to a letter written by someone about "Good Men Hard To Find". The other article which was the one that caught my attention was one that talked about how Jamaican men living in the U.S.A. have basically written off Jamaican women and have now sought to make their home with other nationals entitled, "Give Me The Yankee Woman over the Jamaican". One man said: "Dem coulda pretty like money, me a stay far from dem".

I find such a statement so sad after reading the article. These men had bad experiences with Jamaican women with whom they were involved and as a result stereotyped ALL other Jamaican women as a result. Now, I know that there are many "women" out there who do some very questionable things, and giving the good women a bad rap. It is also quite sad that these men have chosen to copulate with other races; but I guess with what they went through, it is easy to understand why they made such a decision.

I don't think many women read my blog but if there are any who come across my ramblings, I implore you to hold your head up high, and live the life of a true woman, one that every man who wants a satisfying and fulfilling relationship will want to be with.

The Art of Communication

Communicate: share and exchange information; pass on or convey

A senior manager in our Internal & Corporate Communications Department has the below quote at the bottom of her email:

"The biggest single problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place" a quote by George Bernard Shaw.

Communication is truly an art that individuals develop as they go along in life. So many times, we are misunderstood and it leads you to wonder, if you spoke clearly or did you articulate your thoughts properly. A person can communicate in so many ways without uttering a single word and they are understood clearly. But, the minute they open their mouth to speak, everything they say is misinterpreted. It makes me wonder about the dynamics of life and how we exist in this world. There are so many distractions in the communication process that I don't know how we get the message half the time one is sent to us.

How can we communicate more effectively? One important thing to do is listen.

Work Work Work

So far I've managed to stay away from events at my place of employment. However, there are so many things peeving me right now that I just have to vent somewhere ... and where else but here!

Peeve #1
Incompetent, Arrogant, Sensically Challenged CoWorker

Stephen has been working with me for the past 3+ years. After all this time, this guy seems to have a severe brain fart everytime he has to think about something more detailed than printing a document. I mean, he asks me the simplest questions about things he should know and it annoys the hell out of me. I made it clear to him that I refuse to "clean up after him" when he creates a professional mess and that he needs to start using the noodles he has for a brain and stop draining mine.

Background: I am called a SME - Subject Matter Expert at my job. Anything that has to do with my line of work, I'm the one everyone in my company calls.

Mr. Everlasting Brain Fart then has the nerve to tell me that whether I want to accept it or not, no one will ever come and learn/know my job like I do. I immediately shot that thought right out of the sky because clearly he is intimidated by my knowledge and is afraid to step up to the plate. Hello ..... coward!! And then, he thinks he's God's greatest gift to the human race, particularly the females. I think that the fact that I'm a woman, younger than him, achieved more than him academically, really rated professionally, make more $$ than he does .... makes him feel a bit insecure and so he finds every other way to attempt to exhault himself.

He annoys me to the point now that I don't even want to see him or have him speak a word to me in Greek!!!

Peeve #2
Waiting ... good think I know Patience!!

Have you ever had a task to complete but you depend on someone else, whether internal or external to your company to provide you with the relevant information and you just never seem to get it in time????? I HATE THAT!!! Doing an investigation, the client is breathing down your back daily and every day you have to apologize profusely to them making excuses for other people. Things like this make you look incompetent and I don't appreciate anyone compromising my work and my professional reputation. I HATE THAT!!!!

I need to become self employed ASAP!

MIA

Well, I've been missing in action for a while and absolutely miss blogging. I have been checking your posts but really just haven't had the time to do any posting of my own. After returning from BVI right in the middle of the Christmas rush and work and all, I am now suffering from major burn out, brain drain and all those horrible things that tell you that you need to take a vacation! So, I'm working out my last year's vacation of 3 weeks and then I'll have more time to blog.

Nonetheless, rest assured I have much to talk about and will be doing so in the near future.

Thanks to all who have been stopping by!
