A Little Inspiration

This is one of the daily inspiration emails I subscribe to ... (yeah ... I do) and thought I'd share it with you all as it is so relevant to our everyday lives. Be inspired!

Crickets and Scorpions
======================

I usually spend time in prayer at five a.m. each morning.

I shall relay a lesson that God taught me very dramatically
during one of those early morning sessions.
I pray in a closet that is actually the vocal booth
of our former home music studio. It is soundproof.
As I entered clad only in shorts, I heard the sound of a cricket chirping.
There in the shadow, I saw the cricket.
It was very close to where I sit on the floor each day.

"Sit down and don't bother the cricket,"
I heard a soft voice speak in my spirit.

I obeyed.
I turned out the light and sat in total darkness and silence.
I felt something crawl up on my leg.

"Don't bother the cricket," I heard the voice say again,
"I am trying to teach you something."

"You need to learn to distinguish the difference between
crickets and scorpions in life. Don't bother the cricket."

The cricket crawled. It is an eerie feeling to say the least.
I wasn't afraid of the cricket. I knew it couldn't harm me.
It wouldn't bite, sting, or even so much as scratch me.
It was just a highly annoying and extremely icky feeling.
A cricket crawling all over you. I let the cricket crawl for almost a minute
until I couldn't stand it anymore. I brushed the cricket off,
turned on the light, picked it up in my hand, and took it outside and let it go.

I understood what God was trying to show me.

Life has scorpions and crickets.

Scorpions are the things that can hurt us; things that are truly
destructive and dangerous. Crickets are the things that have
absolutely no power to hurt us, they are just irritating.
They get on our nerves; they try our patience.

I saw things differently after emerging from prayer that day.

I realized that the vast majority of the things that really
irked me

...were crickets.

The vast majority of the things that irk you

...are crickets.

Don't bother the crickets
and don't let the crickets bother you.

We still suck!

Why do we always have communication problems with our fellow man? It is amazing with all the ways to communicate these days and we still suck at it! Telephone, letters, fax, emails, blogs, IM and yet people continue to misunderstand what we say and vice versa, ending up in a mood of frustration for not having achieved the objective set out to achieve.

In reading an article published by the University of Colarado, communication problems exist for a variety of reasons on each side of the communication equation, i.e., speaker and listener.

Also, the age old saying, "It's not what you say, it's how you say it" is one that rings true to this day. We continue to ignore the non-verbal ways people communicate with us and then say "what did I miss?" when you get a reaction or response you were not expecting and certainly one you don't think was appropriate.

So, how do we solve this? The famous George Bernard Shaw has a quote:

"The single biggest problem in communication
is the illusion that it has taken place"

There is no easy way to solve this. It is just something that the 2 parties must work on in order to reach a common ground. The truth is that some people communicate more effectively than others and it is just a matter of dealing with that in a way that will resolve whatever the problem is.

But ... the question is ... are we game?

Can you tell I'm going through an identity crisis?

This is the 3rd time in 2 days I've changed the template for my blog. I wish blogger would come up with some new cool templates for me to choose from. I've just not found the one that makes me say, "Yes, this is the template I want to keep for as long as this blog is in existence".

One of the most unique blogs I've seen is Supine Fever. I've not read her in a while come to think of it, but I just like the look of the blog.

So my apologies for the constant change of template ... and again, here is an invitation to all my technologically advanced blogger friends who can help me to add a little excitement to my blog templates. As you can see, I've tried to make it a little different with my headers, etc ... but it's still just blaaaahhhhh!!!! Help!

Damn Those Spammers

It is with deep regret that "Patience Is A Virtue" has been forced to make the process of posting a comment on this blog a little bit more time consuming. This is as a result of the increase in the number of spammer comments I have been receiving on my blog in recent times.

As you can appreciate, one must protect all assets from any impending danger. My computer, my soulmate and friend will only suffer from potential viruses included in said spammer comments and as such, the necessary measures have been taken to address this issue.

Effective immediately, all my commenters will be required to do the "Word Verification" aspect of commenting as offered by Blogger.com for this explicit purpose.

I do apologize for any inconvenience caused by this change in procedure but welcome any suggestions from you, my faithful techny-savvy commenters, that may be a more hassle-free solution to the problem.

Yours sincerely,
CD ... fed up with those f**kin' spammers!

Is it too early to start asking for Christmas gifts? I saw this beautiful ring and bracelet set on my recent stop-over in Grenada and would love to have it for Christmas ...

What A Night ...

It rained most of last night. I fell asleep early and got up a little after 12 to the sound of drizzling raindrops. It started to rain harder and is still raining on and off right this minute.

I absolutely love the rain. It is one of the most erotic pieces of nature for me. I enjoyed it immensely last night, listening to the raindrops beat against my roof and window. I was so tempted to get in the nude and go outside, stand there and let it pound my body. Crazy thoughts but I couldn't because there are about 3 pervert men who live in close proximity who I've caught eyeing my ass as I go up my stairs on a daily basis, especially when I'm in shorts.

The rain is kinda putting a "damper" (no pun intented of course) on me getting my car washed! It is absolutely dirty having not been washed for about a week now ... gotta get that done today!

I would love for this rain to continue through into tonight so that I can make the most of it in those erotic ways I love so much ...

Catch you later.

It's Friday?? Yippeee!!

Can you tell I'm glad it's Friday. This has been quite a hectic week and I am so happy to finally be able to relax, not think about the office and the bitches/assholes I have to deal with, and just chill!

Not much planned for the weekend as usual. It doesn't help any that I'm as broke as hell but I'm pretty confident I will find something to occupy my time enjoyably.

To all my blogger peeps, have a crazy-hype weekend!

When does it end?

Paying through our teeth at the gas pumps - J$1,900
Paying a power company who fails to deliver consistent power supply - J$5,000 per month ... And soon to be paying more to the dreadful JPS - sucks!!
Increased GCT ... yeah, I'm still not over that!

When does it end for the lower class? In the words one of the most popular Jamaican DJs Vybez Cartel:

"How everyting a raise up, but unnu nah raise nuh baddy pay"

I wish we were more united as a people to take a stand in a meaningful way to the oppression we face. We all just sit down and take what is dished out to us by politicians and it is so sad. For those who voted them into power, we are supposed to hold them accountable. I know we are not living in a society where this is an easy task but, if we were to take a stand against some of the injustices, our voices would have to be heard. But, we are too caught up bad minding others and bickering about insignificant trivialities that in no way affect the price of bread a the supermarket.

When does it end? How much more will we be forced to take before we take a stand?

Just some things to think about.

What A Day!

Today was one of the longest days I've had in a while. I had to travel to Montego Bay for work today and decided to drive because of the several stops I had to make. The day progressed well. I got almost everything done and had to stop in Ocho Rios on my way back ... After leaving there, ended up in one of those infamous traffic jams on Mount Rosser ... Yes, we all know them, the two-truck collision, preventing the free-flow of traffic in both directions.

Ladies and gentlemen, I was in this for 1 1/2 hours. I fell asleep in my car! I can't wait for that leg of the highway to be finished so that we can be rid of those horrific trailers that make the Mount Rosser journey a challenge. Meantime, the road to Montego Bay is progressing quite nicely! I thought it would be finished by now but I must say there are quite some decent stretches for a car to have a picnic! My car had fun today going 140 km/h .... lovely!! I am a big speed demon and wished I had a real fast car! I would have so much more fun driving on those roads!

As you can appreciate, after waking up at 4:30 to leave this morning, stuck in the traffic, I'm exhausted ... and can't understand why I'm still awake at this time. Anyhow, such is life.

Take care everyone.

The Perfect Man

Well, it's another weekend, another Saturday night and I'm in the comfort of home, alone tonight which is a plus. I'm cutely attired in a very very short mini jeans skirt, a tank top with no bra, hair simply pulled back in one, lip gloss and my million dollar smile! I'm feeling pretty!

Today I checked a friend of mine who is my constant supply of boot leg DVDs and he asked me if I wanted to watch the movie "The Perfect Man". My response to this was not the expected response from the fairer sex, but I basically hissed my teeth and asked him what else he had. I ended up taking Four Brothers, Devil's Rejects, The Skeleton Key and Passa Passa 37 :-). Now, why did I respond in that unexpected manner? I told him that no such thing exists and I really don't think I should subject myself to another hollywood attempt to paint this wonderful picture of the lonely mother and a daughter playing matchmaker by inventing an imaginary man who is "perfect" to woo her mother and find a real life suitor to play the part. Sorry, I'm not feeling that B-S right about now. With all the talk Trouble and I have been doing about the perfect opposite sex partner, the dos and don'ts of coupling, I just felt it prudent of me to say .... we all know there's no perfect person, no one that will meet all our every criteria ... but there is someone out there for us to make our knees wobble, our heart melt, our face flush a deep deep red (for ladies) and whatever happens to the male species when they have found "The One".

Quite a lame rant for a Saturday night but ... what the hell ...

A Breather ... Well, Kinda ...

Today and tomorrow, I get a day away from the office to attend a training session put on by my company. It is still hectic but at least it is away from the normal hustle, bustle and stress of my office.

The sessions are for managers and should help to do be better at managing people and coaching the people we supervise. It is interesting to hear the various points of views and experiences from others in the organization because you know at that point that you are not alone in dealing with major crap. It also gives you an opportunity to learn from other people and also to share knowledge.

Apart from that all is well with me. Looking forward to the weekend so I can rest!

More time everyone.

"... That's Her"

A friend of mine sent me this email and I wanted the ladies to tell me if this is the kind of guy they want. I found it a bit interesting because each of us as women have different needs when it comes to a man. We have seen women who stay in abusive relationships because they think that is the man's way of showing his "love" for them. Some women want a man they can boss around, and some of us want the guy described below. What's your choice ladies???? I wanna know!!

Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot,

Who calls you back when you hang up on him,
Who will stay awake just to watch you sleep.
Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead,
Who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats,
Who holds your hand in front of his friends,
Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares about
you and how lucky he is to have you.
Wait for the one who turns to his friends and says, "...that's her."

Overwhelming Response

It is amazing how you can touch someone's life in such a small way, you may not even realize that you had an impact. I know it may seem insignificant to some readers but just the fact that something I write can draw people into my little blog circle is an overwhelming feeling for me. When I started this blog over a year ago, I didn't even imagine that persons more than the 2 people I told I had a blog would be stopping by here to get little tidbits of my life (no matter how boring) and my thoughts (no matter how ridiculous). I just wanted y'all to know that I appreciate you stopping by, taking time out of the busy lifestyles we all live, to read my rantings and to comment on those rants. You guys rock and I'm glad I have you to keep my company.

So, what's been happening to me these last few weeks. Nothing really. Just the same old, same old, a lot of work as usual. Not much on the social scene and I'm now feeling older and older each day. One of the big events in my life now is that I'm working on buying a home. For those who have already achieved that milestone, I'm sure you can understand the anxiety I feel about this new venture and am just praying that all will go well. I expect some hitches ... without these can you imagine how boring life would be???? So, I'll keep you posted on that as it progresses.

On another note, I have taken the "plunge" and am now enjoying CWJ's ADSL service. I'm loving it so far and thinking how much longer before I decide to upgrade to the Full DSL package ... hhhmmmm ... I wonder ... let's see.

That's about it for now. Catch up with you all!

I Wonder ...

What is true happiness? I wonder about this emotion that seems to elude so many people these days. It's like everyone you meet, talk to, hear about, has some sad story about their life. It is so depressing to hear about all that is happening in the world and even moreso, closer to home. How can one accomplish true happiness in life? Happiness lately seems to be defined by how much money you make, where you live, what kind of car you drive or the kind of clothes you wear. The school your children go to, the school your child passed for in the GSAT exams, the extra-curricular activities your children are involved in. How many women a man can sleep with, how much money a woman can get a man to give her. How thin you are, how long your hair is, if you can afford to get your hair and nails done every week. The list just goes on and on and on.

But ... how does a person define happiness in their own life? One must not live solely by the double standards set by society. Happiness is about 101% contentment, seeing the silver lining behind the cloud in every situation, peace of mind and joy beyond a thousand words.

Happiness!! Everyone!
