It is now approximately 1 week before the anniversary of the greatest event the earth has ever beheld. On this fateful day, the world changed forever. It was never to be the same. Any guesses??? No, it is not the anniversary of a world war, or the falling of the Berlin Wall or the end of Apartheid...
IT IS MY BIRTHDAY!
Yes, next week this time, God's willing, I will be a year older. My birthday is more important to me than any other day in the year. Christmas and Valentines have nothing on my birthday. As usual, I have no plans for this grand occasion. I will be content in being able to celebrate it with the one I love and with whatever he will have in store for me!

What's Your Business Sign?
Now that I'm managing my office, I have come to realize how being a manager sucks sometimes. More on that in another post. Right now, a little humour for the evening:
What's Your Business Sign?
1) MARKETING You are ambitious yet stupid. You chose a marketing degree to avoid having to study in college, concentrating instead on drinking and socializing which is pretty much what your job responsibilities are now. Least compatible with Sales.
(I did marketing ... doesn't say much for me does it??)
2) SALES Laziest of all signs, often referred to as "marketing without a degree." You are also self-centered and paranoid. Unless someone calls you and begs you to take their money, you like to avoid contact with customers so you can "concentrate on the big picture." You seek admiration for your golf game throughout your life.
3) TECHNOLOGY Unable to control anything in your personal life, you are instead content to completely control everything that happens at your workplace. Often even YOU don't understand what you are saying but who the hell can tell. It is written that Geeks shall inherit the Earth.
4) ENGINEERING One of only two signs that actually studied in school. It is said that engineers place ninety percent of all Personal Ads. You can be happy with yourself; your office is full of all the latest "ergodynamic" gadgets. However, we all know what is really causing your "carpal tunnel syndrome."
5) ACCOUNTING The only other sign that studied in school. You are mostly immune from office politics. You are the most feared person in the organization; combined with your extreme organizational traits, the majority of rumors concerning you say that you are completely insane.
6) HUMAN RESOURCES Ironically, given your access to confidential information, you tend to be the biggest gossip within the organization. Possibly the only other person that does less work than marketing, you are unable to return any calls today because you have to get a haircut, have lunch AND then mail a letter.
7) MANAGEMENT/MIDDLE MANAGEMENT Catty, cutthroat, yet completely spineless, you are destined to remain at your current job for the rest of your life. Unable to make a single decision you tend to measure your worth by the number of meetings you can schedule for yourself. Best suited to marry other "Middle Managers" as everyone in your social circle is a "Middle Manager." ... SO TRUE!!-Not me of course but ...

Continually passed over for promotions, your best bet is to sleep with your manager. Or finish that damn two-year degree...
10) CONSULTANT Lacking any specific knowledge, you use acronyms to avoid revealing your utter lack of experience. You have convinced yourself that your "skills" are in demand and that you could get a higher paying job with any other organization in a heartbeat. You will spend an eternity contemplating these career opportunities without ever taking direct action.
11) RECRUITER, "HEADHUNTER" As a "person" that profits from the success of others, most people who actually work for a living disdain you. Paid on commission and susceptible to alcoholism, your ulcers and frequent heart attacks correspond directly with fluctuations in the stock market.
12) PARTNER, PRESIDENT, CEO You are brilliant or lucky. Your inability to figure out complex systems such as the fax machine suggest the latter.
13) GOVERNMENT WORKER Paid to take days off. Government workers are genius inventors, like the invention of new Holidays. They usually suffer from deep depression or anxiety and usually commit serious crimes while on the job...Thus the term "GO POSTAL"

Snippets
There are so many things happening in our little corner of the world and in other parts as well. So, I will just give snippets (is that a real word???) on each of interest to me:
Pope Benedict XVI (that's 16 for the roman arithmetically challenged)
A new pope has finally been elected. Some locals have been discussing the fact that the new Pope is 78 years old. My take on it is that it allows for more transition in the Catholic church in not having 1 person reign for 30 or 40 years. The possible benefit to be gained from this is the breath of new life into Catholicism by the changing of the times, without compromising the doctrines and standards of the Catholic church.
Increase in GCT
How could they do this to us? We already severely overtaxed in this country and now we will have to pay out more out of our hard earned money to go into the government/politician's coffers. What of all the over-spending that has been mentioned in the media recently? The granting of contracts without tender? Billions of dollars that have "slipped through the cracks" with no accountability whatsoever? It irks me ... as a matter of fact ... it pisses me the hell off. What of ALL the taxes we pay that are not going into the development of essential services and for making our country a better place to live? I wish we as a people would take a stand to these injustices that plague us. For too long, we have sat back and taken all that is dished out to us saying we have no choice. We victims of state extortion in my opinion and it is only getting worse every day. When politicians can get an increase in salary of almost 400% while at the same time signing a MOA with Civil Servants saying that their salaries will not increase by more than 3% for the next 3 years, is an injustice to the system, particularly with the increase in GCT. I'm so pissed! Can you tell!!! I'm moving to Switzerland.
Gym Trips
I am still making my weekly trips to the gym and feeling great. I have purposely stayed away from the scale and should be weighing in at the end of this month! I am seeing and feeling the difference already so I'm still on the path of fitness!

A Love Affair
I have ceased to try to comprehend the love affair that exists between a man and his car! It is truly amazing to see the amount of time an dmoney spent on this gigantic piece of metal. For some, I understand it is a hobby. For others, it is nothing short of an obsession. I admit to being one who loves to see car that is blingin'. It is a pleasant site to see that nice car with rims, spoiler/wing, big broad tires, front spoiler or lip as it is called, turbo kit, graphics, neatly lowered, decent paint job, accessorized, blah blah blah! My other half has a car that is absolutely wonderful to look at. It has all the amenities of a "bashy" car or a "bad car" as it is called in the racing fraternity. It is quite fast too!
I'm ok as long as the ride doesn't come before me in any way - time or money wise. When I listen to guys talk about their car and what they are going to do with it to make it look better and go faster ... I rememeber an article that was in a Auto Hype magazine where it said that men between the ages of 23 and 35 (I believe) all prefered to spend their money fixing up their ride with no desire to own a home of their own. What is it saying about your men? For women who are seeking a life partner within this age group may need to start looking at the older end of the stick as the men we desire seem fixated on owning and maintaining an asset that will do nothing (much) for their wellbeing.
What do we do?

Comeback
I know I haven't posted in a while ... and no, it's not because I've given up my blog. I have just been very busy and consumed with everything happening in my life, not that it is much but it has just been keeping me more occupied than I like. I actually tried to post about 2 weeks ago and I lost everything that I wrote so I'm forced to just let you know that I'm still around.
I have also not had a chance to read your posts but promise to try to do so this weekend.

Comeback
Well, what can I say. I was almost beginning to think that I will have to give up this blog since I returned to work! I have not had the time to read or write blogs and I'm so pissed! I see that I was missed by at least 1 person ... thanks Mad Bull :-) ...
Since returning to work, I've been working myself to the bone. Long hours, stress, I have just been going and going and going. The only thing that hasn't suffered as a result of this ... and I'm happy to report ... is that I have still been going to the gym consistently 4 days a week! I am already reaping the benefits and no there's no turning back for me anytime soon.
A lot has been happening in the lives of my friends and in the world. So ... here goes:
I must publicly say congratulations to one of my dearest friends, "Regular Girl" who gave birth to her baby girl on March 19! Your wonderful journey of motherhood has begun and I know you will enjoy the ride!
I followed the Terry Shaivo saga on the airwaves almost every day for the last 13 days of her life and thought it to be so sad that someone would have to live their last days in a "persistent vegetative state". I can say though that it has really pointed me in the direction of writing a "Living will". As morbid as this may sound, I have already documented what I would like to take place at the time of my death. I think I did this when I was about 16 or 17. People thought I was strange but I have accepted death and taxes as the only 2 things in life that no one will escape. I may need to add my "living will" to that document. For the lawyers though, do I need to have this witnessed or notarized or signed by a JP or something for it to be considered a legal document??? I hope not cause I don't intend to shell out a cent doing that. It will just have to do. They can compare hand writings to make sure I was the one who wrote it. That's as much as I will do. Amidst this tragedy, comedians still had a field day. Last night I was suffering from "Insomnia" and was watching South Park who had an episode where Kenny died and was in a persistent vegetative state. I found it so hilarious. It was really funny.
Anyhow, moving right along - Pope John Paul II has died. May his soul rest in peace.
As for me, I'm just letting you know that I haven't given up the blog thing. I've just been so busy but I think now that I've gotten the ball rolling again, I shant be away for this long again.
